Every year, from around the first week of November to mid December, Leleshwa opens their gates to the public to tour their vineyard in Nakuru, a two hour drive from Nairobi.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a set of refreshements and given some time to interact and get to know each other.
Refreshments done, it was time to head to the vineyard.
The vineyard tour includes enlightenment of the process of growing and harvesting grapes.
Post vineyard tour is where all the fun begins.
A lovely set up on the other side of the farm is displayed where the rest of the day's activities take place.
A canapé spread is laid out away from this set up which we pair with the Leleshwa semi-sweet rosé.
The first course, a grapefruit salad was paired with the award winning, Lelelshwa Sauvignon Blanc .
The main course, their Premium Aged Morendat beef with chocolate and wine sauce and a side of mashed potatoes, was paired with the Leleshwa Merlot-Shiraz blend.
For dessert we had a deconstructed cheesecake paired with the Leleshwa sweet white wine.
Over canapés and lunch we were taught about wine tasting, pairings, storage and given some fun facts about wine.
Thank you so much Leleshwa for the invite. I had such an amazing time. Getting to meet and interact with new people, touring your vineyards, sampling your wines, your lovely food, the amazing views, the Dj who kept us on our feet... I could go on and on. It was an honor to be part of the first group of the #leleshwawinetour2018. I'll definitely be back with a group of my girlfriends !
