Skin care and Meditation

With everything happening in the world currently, meditation is having a big moment and I couldn't be happier! The world is waking up. There's a reason most of the successful people in the world meditate - it changes your life.

It's changed mine for sure! It keeps me grounded, brings me back to my body and silences the mind.

When I'm feeling fancy, I have a scented candle burning as I meditate or sage my room right before meditating.

Getting into meditation can be a bit tricky. I personally struggled because my mind constantly kept wandering. I mean it still does but not as much or rather, I have more control over it.

Sometimes three deep breaths are enough meditation. As long as you were still, present and monitoring your breath.

Fun Fact: Meditating for just a few minutes every day brings energy into your body and creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. During meditation, this energy helps repair your body’s tissues and cells which give skin a fresh, youthful glow.

Mindful breathing while meditating adds oxygen to the skin, which is key in boosting cellular health. This increased oxygen rejuvenates your skin, balancing your body and your mind while transforming your body’s cells and tissues. It brightens your complexion, reduces wrinkles and slows down the aging process from the inside out. Meditation also lowers blood pressure and tension-related pain such as headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle aches, and joint problems, making you look and feel younger.

Here are some different ways you can incorporate meditation into your life: 1. Morning guided meditations. Talk about starting your day right! Taking just 15 minutes each morning for yourself and listening to a guided meditation will change your life! 2. Don't just wait, meditate! Instead of killing time scrolling and texting, try a mobile meditation. Yes, there is an app for that - many of them actually. Put on your headphones, and suddenly you’re immersed in an oh-so-soothing 10-minute practice.

3. Face massage. This is one of my favorite ways to multi-task. We all cleanse our faces (if you don't we need talk), so why not spend that time connecting with yourself for some self-love instead of rushing through it. All you need are your fingers, your oil cleanser and a meditation playlist.

4. Take a yoga class. It’s the physical poses that enable us to access that deep, still space in our mind. No matter the level or lineage you practice, all poses lead to the all-peaceful state of meditation. 5. Nighttime guided meditation. After a long day of stimulation, we often come home to watch tv and scroll the interwebs (more stimulation). Our minds are screaming for stillness even if we don't realize it. Before bed try a 20 minute guided meditation to wake up with that meditation glow!

Here are a few meditation apps I've previously used.

Most of them double up as mental health apps that track both your emotional and mental well-being.

My personal favorites are the top 3 horizontally but all 9 apps are effective. You can test and try to see what works best for you.

I currently use a meditation playlist for my meditations. It's also available on YouTube.

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to meditate. You will eventually get the hang of it.

xx

As you go through life, grow through it.
